... (Read More) Barbour Thornproof Wax Dressing - 200ml
Classic Treatment for your wax jacket
For all wax coats and jackets

Made to the same original formula as that used in making Barbour fabrics, it's easy to apply (either to to the whole garment, or to the parts which get the most wear, such as elbows, creases and pocket edges), and helps preserve both the fabric and its waterproof qualities.

Directions: Brush all surplus dirt from the garment. If necessary, sponge down with clean cold water. Reproof in a warm room standing container in hot water to soften the dressing. Work dressing well into the garment using a clean cloth or sponge. Special attention should be given to areas which appear to be dry and lighter in colour, the shoulders and neck seams and areas subject to the most abrasion eg. pockets and creases in sleeves.

For a real 'factory' finish blow evenly all over with a hairdryer. Hang garment overnight in a warm place.

Regular re-proofing is essential as it protects the fabric, maintains its waterproof qualities and ensures a long, useful life.

Goes further than you'd think. Review by Mark

With one tin of this I've re-waxed two Barbour dog coats, a large Stone Island coat and a Barbour Bedale jacket. All have had two coats of wax per coat/jacket. There is still a small amount left in the tin, although not enough for another job. I came here to buy another tin as I want one ready for when I need it again. I can't imagine how you would use a whole tin on one coat!

good rewaxing Review by Jock

I bought a Beaufort last year and some Thornproof too; recently I rewaxed the jacket per the instruction and it was not too messy as I thought it might be (according to some other reviews I'd seen).

I used clean rags to do the rewaxing. I think next time for an even less "messy" job I'll use those one of those painter's small sponge "paint brushes".

I used about 3/4 of a tin quite evenly spead with the clean rag but I do think the sponge "brush" would use about 2/3 of a tin. Either way I gave the jacket what I thought a good thick coat of waxproofing.

Also the wax is good value for money.
Thanks countryattire. You service is great.

Regards, Paul

Does what is says on the tin Review by Don

I used the wax dressing as directed with good results. It's easy to apply. I did my jacket in sections, the arms, chest, etc, I worked it into the creases and pocket edges.
I sponge down the coat with clean cold water. Put the wax in hot water to soften the wax. I did the coat in the summer whilst the coat was supple. I then gave it a real 'factory' finish by using my wife's hairdryer. I recon there is enough for a large coat.
