See us at The Midland Game Fair this weekend

Given good weather, crowds in the order of 90,000 people will visit the fair at Weston Park over this weekend. Established 28 years ago, the MGS has become a national institution.  Throughout its growth the Midland Game Fair has retained its unique atmosphere, offering visitors and exhibitors a true celebration of country life. Over 300 trade stands and crafts will attend, among whom Country Attire will site their 18 metre marquee. Around the park are over 40 show ground attractions, many with a country theme.

The Midland Game Fair actually started off as a small gathering of like-minded people on the Earl of Bradford’s lawn. The shows founder, Philip Poole, was returning from the CLA Game Fair, and thought it would be great fun to hold a similar event at Weston Park. He and a friend called in to see Lord Bradford on the way home, and thus the Midland Game Fair was born. That was 1983, when 3,500 country sports enthusiasts, who congregated on Temple Field, had no idea of the significance of that day. Twenty-eight years on, and over a million visitors later, the Midland Game Fair still retains its unique appeal and legendary atmosphere.

The Midland Game Fair is the showcase event of the year for the UK Gun Trade and Gunmakers Row and Airgun Expo provide the focal point of the Midland Game Fair. Working gundogs are another of the Midland’s most popular show features, and the 2010 Mitsubishi Motors World Series Gundog Championship is sure to attract the UK’s top gundog handlers.

This is Country Attire's last show of the 2011 season, and it's been another great year. We've been privileged to meet many of our online customers face-to-face and we've found a few more good friends who have joined our happy band of devoted customers.

Barbour

On our stand this weekend we will be featuring the Barbour's Children's range for autumn & winter 2011, which is really lovely. And of course you will find all the usual favourites and many new lines from Hunter, Barbour, LiBErty FREEdom, Driza-Bone and John Partridge - (lots of great JP special end-of-season offers).

Do check out Baron Bags while you're on our stand; these are Swedish leather bags

Bristol Leather Bag by Baron

Another often overlooked item is the Nikwax range of waterproofing products. There's stuff here to waterproof every conceivable item of apparel from hats to boots, and everything in between. Even clothing that wasn't waterproof when you bought it can become amazingly weatherproof with a simple Nikwax application. They're easy to use, from spray-on to wash-in, and many of the world's most famous explorers and adventurers have been using them for decades. Ask one of our guys on the stand to talk through what you need.

My seaweed says we're in for a cold winter, so a do look at our scarves and gloves by Johnston's Cashmere, Hunter and Barbour; Oh, and a hat wouldn't go amiss either.

Look forward to seeing you there. The weather forecast doesn't look too bad and it should be a great show.
