The Great Yorkshire Show THIS WEEK
In spite of the weather, it’s all systems go for the Great Yorkshire Show near Harrogate this week, starting on Tuesday and running through to Thursday (July 10-12th). As you might expect after the recent chaotic summer weather, car parking on the showground is much reduced, but a new Park & Ride system will operate, and there will be additional shuttle buses. Please car-share if possible, or consider using public transport. If you are using SatNav, the postcode for the special Plompton Bar Park & Ride is HG5 8LX, it will be sign-posted and it’s only 1.4 miles from the Showground.
We have had our country show schedule badly affected by the awful weather, but we’re soldiering on to ensure we’ll be there with all the countrywear you’ve come to expect, plus loads of special offers and new lines we know you’re going to love, so come along and see us. At least we can fit you out for the bad weather, although it shouldn’t be too bad this week.
With the Olympics only days away now we’ll be featuring at the show our “WINNERS” collection, with gold, silver and bronze wellies from Hunter, union flag lined jackets from Barbour and some really cool Olympic polo shirts from Joules. There will also be a large selection of union flag themed bags, boots, socks and jackets, so you can ‘fly the flag’ over the next couple of months.
I know the rain has been bad pretty well everywhere since March, when, if you remember, we had ridiculously Mediterranean weather for a couple of weeks, but never was our mantra; “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong attire” more true. In this important year for Britain, the great British public has been defying the elements with immense good humour and turning out in their thousands for event after event – The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Thames River Pageant, Wimbledon and the British Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone, to name but a few. So don’t let a bit of damp put you off, it’s never as bad as you think, and you’re often rewarded with superb sunny weather, as they were at Silverstone last Sunday - once you’ve made the effort.
