INTERVIEW - MARIE | JOFAMA
Whether you prefer authentic vintage styles which can be worn again and again, or the latest fashionable designs which offer a contemporary look, a leather jacket is a key piece that no wardrobe should be without.
How would you describe your personal style Marie?
"I am very much a jeans, t-shirt and leather jacket kind of girl. That's when I feel most comfortable. I like classic, clean designs and to mix feminine clothes with more rough edgy pieces."
Which SS14 trends are you following?
"I'm not really a trend follower to be honest, but I do love the "all white" trend. White from head to toe is so fresh in the summer!"
Who is your favourite designer?
"I'm in love with Isabel Marant's design. Her style is so effortless chic, and she has the perfect bohemian nonchalance."
Who is your style icon?
"I don´t have just one, there are many women that I think have great style, like Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Alicia Vikander and Cheryl Cole. I would´t mind trading my closet with theirs!"
What influenced you to collaborate with Jofama?
"I've been approached to do different collaborations during the years, but nothing felt completely right until the opportunity to work with Jofama came up. I've always loved leather jackets and own way too many (if you ask my dad), so when I got the chance to create my own designs it truly was a dream come true. I think a leather jacket is something that everyone should own and it really has become a classic piece that you can wear for years. A leather jacket is my absolute favourite thing to wear."
What inspires your designs?
"My friends, my own closet and people whose style I aspire to. I wanted to create jackets both girls and women want to wear. The style of my jackets are quite classic and clean but with a few eye catching details to make it special."
Which is your favourite jacket from your collection with Jofama?
"Oh, I love all the jackets I´ve done, but I´m EXTREMELY proud of my SS14 collection. "Marie Paris" and "Marie Bomber" are jackets that I´m going to live in as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer in Sweden."
Would you consider starting your own fashion line?
"Wow, I have never thought of that…but who knows..."
What has been your biggest achievement within your career?
"I started in this business when I was 15 years old and I´m very proud and happy that I still get to work with what I love the most, 15 years later..."
What’s the best advice you could give to aspiring designers?
"Surround yourself with people that you trust and that give you inspiration. Listen, practice and never give up. Dare to dream big and remember that everything´s possible. You've just got to work for it. At the end of the day - nothing comes for free. But I think my best advice is to always stay humble and be true to yourself. Trust your gut and if you don´t find a way - create your own."
