Christmas Markets 2014: What to Wear
For many people, the opening of these fun-filled festive gatherings is the green-light for the Christmas celebrations to begin. For a few short weeks, some of the country’s grittiest cities are transformed into winter wonderlands befitting of any fairy tale. The streets are dotted with log cabins adorned with twinkling lights, glittering decorations and festive wreaths. The scent of mulled wine fills the air and bratwurst cook furiously on steaming stoves…it’s enough to soften the most hardened of Scrooges!
With Hyde Park’s majestic Winter Wonderland set to open its doors next weekend, the Christmas carnival will be complete; and if you don’t pay a visit to one of these sparkling spectacles, you’re missing out!
Perfect for soaking up the Yuletide atmosphere, the Christmas markets are also a great place to splurge on sweet stocking fillers, find unique one-off gifts and indulge in festive delicacies from around the world. Plus, they’re a great place to showcase your winter style!
Spending most of the day outdoors in the middle of winter means you’ll need to be warm and well-insulated, while the risk of wet weather also demands a waterproof layer. And creating a look which fulfils these criteria but still looks stylish can be a challenge…
With this in mind, Country Attire took a trip to Manchester’s Christmas markets on Sunday to do some seasonal style spotting- and a little shopping! A couple of hours mooching revealed some fabulous winter ensembles for him and her; well done, ladies and gents!
Inspired by the pretty but practical looks on show, we bring you two looks which are perfect for a trip to the Christmas markets and will make sure you’re snug yet stylish.
