With the days getting longer and the clocks going back next week spring is certainly in the air; and summer is just around the corner.
In the Country Attire office, we're dreaming of long sunny days spent lounging in the garden -or perhaps somewhere a little more exotic- and we're updating our wardrobes with gorgeous new arrivals for SS/15!
If you're lucky enough to be jetting off on a sunshine break this summer -or even over the upcoming Easter holidays- no doubt you'll be looking for fabulous pieces to pack in your suitcase, and stunning swimwear to dazzle in by the pool.
After a long cold winter spent hibernating with the heating on, the thought of stripping off and daring to bare on the beach or poolside can be be daunting. Fortunately, there's a plethora of beautiful swimwear out there which is cleverly designed to help you make the most of your figure, and create the shape you want, in an instant.
In today's journal, we bring you our pick of bikinis and costumes from some of the world's leading swimwear brands including Orlebar Brown, Cool Change, Zimmermann and Heidi Klein, all chosen for their ability to emphasise the best bits of your figure and draw attention away from the less-than-favourite parts. Whether you want to give the illusion of curves or the impression of a slimmer silhouette, our stylish swimwear will do the trick...
For boyish figures with an athletic shape, the Orlebar Brown Ladies' Nicola Aquatic Bikini Top will create the illusion of curves in an instant. This beautiful bikini top has halter neck straps which are ideal for breaking up straight lines and creating a curvier silhouette. This bikini top also features removable light padding to enhance the bust and create a fuller shape. Finally, the vibrant Parrot Fish pattern catches the eye and draws the eye upwards.
The beautiful Tahiti Stripe One Piece swimsuit by Cool Change offers perfect coverage for ladies with a small bust who tend to carry weight around the middle. This pretty costume features an elongating vertical print, flattering crossover straps to the back and cut-out detail to the front, creating a stylish look while keeping wobbly bits in! Be warned though; this swimsuit has a deep v-neckline with minimal support which could be problematic for larger chested ladies.
If you're blessed in the boob department, no doubt you want a bikini top which offers great support while flattering the figure and creating a stunning look. Step forward the Zimmermann Ladies' Underwire Bikini Bra in Red Paisley. This gorgeous bikini top is made with Lycra to give it softness and stretch, and features fully moulded, underwired cups to give big busts excellent support. The halter neck straps flatter the chest and can be removed, allowing the top to be worn as a pretty bandeau. A clasp closure to the back ensures the bikini top is securely fastened; so no embarrassing slip-ups at the pool! Better still, this bikini comes in a beautiful paisley print in red, white and blue.
For fuller figured ladies, the Heidi Klein Cap D'ail Bandeau Scallop One Piece is perfect for creating a more slimline shape. Not only is this swimsuit stunning, it is also cleverly designed to flatter the figure and provide support in all the right places. This one piece features fully underwired cups which provide ample support for bigger boobs and the perfect amount of coverage. A sweetheart neckline creates an elegant look, with detachable straps allowing the swimsuit to be worn in a bandeau style. Cleverly, this one piece has a low-scoop back and clasp closure which provides a secure fastening. The Cap D'ail one piece also features delightful scallop detail to the cups and comes in classic black, known for its slimming effect.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SWIMWEAR FOR YOUR SHAPE...
Hourglass figure: Your hips and shoulders are roughly the same width, but you have a defined waist.
Hourglass figures are lucky enough to wear most styles of swimwear, but look particularly great in vintage-inspired designs.
If you choose to wear a two piece, avoid clashing top and bottoms. This can make the body look out of proportion.
Pear-shaped figure: Your hips are wider than the shoulders, and your figure is "bottom-heavy".
Swimwear with embellishment to the top half is ideal for enhancing the bust and balancing the figure.
A sarong tied asymmetrically around the hips will provide light coverage and narrow the body.
Apple-shaped figure: Your hips and shoulders are a similar width. You have a full bust and a rounded middle.
Choose a swimsuit or bikini with a high cut to show off one of your best features; your legs.
A plain top and patterned bottom half will create a balanced look.
Avoid thin straps, as these can make your top half look bigger. Instead, opt for thick straps which also have the added benefit of providing support to the bust.
Athletic figure: You have a slim and lean figure, with few to no curves and a small bust.
Avoid one pieces which can lengthen the body further and create a "straight up-and-down" shape. Choose separates instead.
Avoid bandeau style bikini tops if you have little to no bust.
Opt for bikinis with frills, embellishment, ruching and patterns. These details can create the illusion of curves.
Halter neck and triangle tops are ideal for creating a more curvacious, feminine shape. Avoid shoulder straps which can emphasise masculine shoulders.
