Tomorrow sees the start of the annual Coachella music festival, in the Coachella Valley of Indio, California. Viewed by many as the first major event of the "festival season", Coachella attracts almost 600,000 festival-goers every year, making it one of the biggest music festivals in the world. The festival is also loved by the Hollywood A-List, who each year put on a fantastic fashion show for us mere mortals to admire, while they soak up the sounds of some of the biggest music acts in the world.
If you're not lucky enough to be jetting off to California this month, don't worry; the UK is home to some incredible festivals which offer musical line-ups that compete with Coachella and more fun than you can shake a selfie-stick at. In fact, the only thing that's lacking from our home-grown festivals is the weather. While festival-goers at Coachella enjoy toasty temperatures and endless blue skies, UK festivals are often beset by torrential downpours, with occasional spells of glorious sunshine.
With unpredictable weather almost guaranteed, packing for a summer festival in the UK can be a challenge; while we're always hopeful that the hottest weekend of the year will fortuitously arrive as we're loading up the car with tents and tickets, more often than not, rain makes an unwelcome festival appearance. Just look at Glastonbury 2007, when large parts of the festival site were swamped beneath several feet of water! With this in mind, today's journal brings you two very different -but equally stylish- festival looks which combine on-point festival style with a practical edge. Come rain or shine, you'll stand out from the crowd in our luxe festival looks...
The British weather is notoriously unpredictable, making dressing for a summer festival a real challenge! It's not unusual for British festivals to see sunshine and showers in equal measure over the course of a weekend, so make sure your backpack is filled with clothes for any eventuality. Keep cool in a pair of denim shorts, but be wet-weather ready in waterproof wellies and a pack-away poncho!
If you're lucky enough to be heading to a sun-soaked festival this summer -like the upcoming Coachella or Spain's Benicassim- lightweight, fuss-free cover-ups are the order of the day. Keep cool in the heat with feather-light, floaty fabrics and shield your eyes with stunning shades. Finally, pop all your festival essentials in an easy-to-carry, cross-body bag...
