Strawberries and cream at the ready; the tennis grass court season is in full swing! Just over a week ago, Country Attire were cheering on Andy Murray down at the Aegon Championships and now we are preparing for another serving on centre court, as today marks the start of the anticipated Wimbledon Championships. The Wimbledon Grand Slam is a quintessential sporting event that has been a big part of the Great British summer for over 100 years; with the sun shining and a refreshing glass of Pimm’s, what is better than watching the dramatic events unfold on the court? In recent years, the style of the tennis players has been attracting as much attention as the games themselves, with Wimbledon providing inspiration for many designer brands' sports-luxe collections with clean-crisp styling and sporty separates that look just as good off the court as they do on. We have rallied together some of our favourite brands that are serving up the best tennis inspired collections - to ensure you gain the advantage in the style stakes this summer.

Fred Perry

The Eponymous Fred Perry was considered one of the greatest male tennis players of his time and won eight grand slam titles between 1933-1936; until Andy Murray's victory in 2013 Fred Perry was the last British Wimbledon champion back in 1936. The Fred Perry brand was born in the 1940's and was later seen as the first British heritage brand to successfully combine sportswear with a street wear influence due to its' growing popularity with the mod and skinhead underground subcultures. Fred Perry is synonymous with pique polo shirts, in particular the signature laurel leaf embroidery which has long been associated with the Wimbledon Championships. With their lightweight and breathable honeycomb construction, the pique polo shirts were the perfect performance-wear tops for tennis. The original Fred Perry polo shirt is still made in England to the same standards as it was over 60 years ago; proving the timeless sports style still resonates with the customers of today.

Hackett London

Although not a traditional tennis brand, Hackett London is a luxury brand which is well regarded as the home of 'Essentially British Clothing'. Whilst selling second hand tailoring on a market stall was the heart of Hackett's humble beginnings, Jeremy Hackett and his business partner Ashley Lloyd Jennings soon discovered that demand would soon outstrip their supply, so they began designing their own tailoring range. Due to the success of these ranges, Hackett soon expanded into casualwear and sportswear, whilst still retaining a premium style that suits discerning gentleman. Over the past 30 years, Hackett has become sponsors of quintessentially British sporting events and teams, such as the Aston Martin Racing Team, British Polo Day and Chelsea Football Club. Hackett are also proud official formal and leisurewear providers to the Aegon Championships at the Queen's Tennis Club, which most recently saw Andy Murray play to victory. This season, Hackett has also created a tennis inspired range, with leisure and formal wear pieces that will ensure you look good both on and off the court
