We're taking a moment to introduce to you the brand new Barbour Greatcoat & Arctic Expedition collections that will upgrade your winter wardrobe and keep you stylishly warm throughout the colder seasons.

Mens Greatcoat - Baker Shawl Neck

The Barbour Greatcoat menswear collection takes utilitarian influences to create a robust, winter-ready range that offers both incredible warmth and protection from the elements. The original 'Greatcoat' dates back centuries and was a heavyweight woollen military jacket worn by soldiers who spent long periods of time outside. Protecting soldiers from the freezing cold and rain, the Greatcoat was a popular style that soldiers came to rely on in wintry conditions; today providing the rationale behind the Barbour Greatcoat collection.

Offering rugged protection and warmth in equal measures, the Barbour Greatcoat collection showcases heavy-duty wax, quilted & wool jackets with strong military influences, chunky textured knitwear pieces as well as flannel-style brushed cotton shirts; rich tones of olive, navy and grey feature heavily throughout. A full-bodied collection that is easy to wear and simple to layer up when the weather starts to bite, Barbour Greatcoat won't let you down this winter.

Signature styles from the Barbour Greatcoat collection include the Northolt jacket; which is a military-inspired wax parka jacket that offers reliable, yet stylish protection from the rain and cold draughts. With utilitarian style front pockets, large hood and a soft fleece & quilted lining, Northolt offers heavy-duty warmth even in the depths of winter. Another winter-ready heavyweight has to be the Hemmingford quilted jacket; which is crafted from 4oz Sylkoil waxed cotton to offer robust water & wind resistance, whilst the warm, yet lightweight 305g microfibre filling promises uncompromising insulation. Made for those who refuse to let extreme weather conditions compromise their plans, Hemmingford has a host of functional features including a robust studded storm fly front, large detachable hood, elasticated cuffs and practical handwarmer pockets. With essential room for layering, this relaxed fit jacket showcases Barbour's signature tartan lining to enhance the stylish appeal of this tough winter jacket.

To accompany the rugged winter jackets, the Greatcoat collection features an array of chunky knitwear styles such as the Copeland crew neck jumper and the Edderton roll neck jumper; which both take inspiration from authentic military knitwear styles. Crafted from 100% lambswool, these chunky knits add robust winter warmth to your casual attire and can be effortlessly worn over a classic shirt for an extra layer of protection. Both the Copeland and Edderton jumpers are available in storm grey and navy colourways for a refined, sophisticated appeal. To complete the collection, the Hornby shirt and Landry shirt are crafted from a luxuriously warm brushed cotton fabric, made complete by their tonal navy & grey checked designs for a rugged, wintry appearance.

The Barbour Arctic Expedition ladieswear collection looks to Barbour's history and rich heritage as a point of inspiration. Barbour has a long history of providing cold weather clothing to customers and in the early 1900s, Barbour provided oilskins to polar expeditions to protect wearers from the harshest Arctic conditions. This distinctive collection is designed to offer incredible warmth in the depths of winter whilst remaining beautifully stylish to wear.

The Barbour Arctic Expedition collection boasts an array of winter-ready wax, quilted and waterproof jackets to provide protection and warmth, cosy oversized knitwear pieces with varying stitch designs and stylish mid-layers to effortlessly transition your outfits. The Arctic Expedition collections features a frosted pastel colour palette; with hues of vanilla, silver ice and baby pink taking centre stage, whilst statement pieces in olive and navy provide a solid foundation.

Pieces that stand out from the Arctic Expedition collection include the distinctive Convoy jacket, which is based on the original Barbour Ursula jacket commissioned in the 1940's for all British submariners. Crafted with a feminine silhouette from Barbour's waxed cotton for robust weatherproof functionality, Convoy is completed with a warm quilted lining, funnel strap collar and detachable fleece-lined hood for maximum warmth. When the depths of winter hit, the Buoy quilted jacket will be a reliable, yet fashionable choice. With a longline baffle-quilted outer, Buoy is filled with innovative microfibre down padding for unbeatable warmth without the weight. This style is finished with a traditional faux fur trimmed hood, storm fly hood and internal ribbed cuffs to seal out draughts; making Buoy a force to be reckoned with this winter. To help transition into the winter season, the Landry gilet is a versatile layering piece that offers superb warmth. With curved body seams, this gilet is designed to emulate map contours as a nod to the polar expeditions of the early 20th century. In a fashionable silver ice/ baby pink colourway, this fibredown filled quilted gilet features a cosy fleece lining and a generous detachable hood.

To complement the outerwear pieces, the Arctic Expedition collection also features an array of cosy knitwear styles like the Aspley knit jumper, which is crafted from an exceptionally luxurious alpaca wool-blend knit. Using a traditional fisherman's rib stitch with a lightweight gauzy texture, Aspley is a feminine style that is further accented by its' soft grey and vanilla colour options and soft roll collar. As a more heavyweight option for freezing temperatures, the Bartlett knit jumper is an oversized style also made from a sumptuous alpaca wool-blend. With a distinctive moss stitch texture that has a warm chunky construction, this versatile jumper is styled with a slouchy polo neck and longline length for added protection against the plunging temepratures.
