Small Festivals: Why Standon Calling is one to watch

Festivals invite freedom, good atmosphere and a collective love of one thing to bring people together. With the big names like Glastonbury, V, Reading and Leeds making international news and enticing music lovers in their thousands to make the journey to a desolate field somewhere tucked away in the countryside, it can be daunting for the more chilled, independent festi-fan.

For those who enjoy space and want to vary from the big festival players, smaller festivals offer a new wave of fun and frivolity, possibly not yet experienced by the majority, bringing a new feel to events. Seeing your favourite artists in an enclosed, more intimate setting allows for an enhanced experience, offering memories you are sure not to forget in a hurry.
An up and comer on the small festival circuit is Standon Calling, taking place late July and boasting a reputable selection of both DJ’s and live artists. Not just one for established favourites, Standon also offers opportunity to discover new acts, giving the stage to new blood in the industry.

Being located in Hertfordshire had opportunity to overshadow the event, but instead easy access and a significant location has heightened awareness of this festival, allowing revellers to come from far and wide to enjoy a weekend of mixed music acts and plenty of amusement.
In addition to its musical talent, Standon additionally boasts further entertainment over the weekend. One for all the family, Standon offers kids activities and a nanny service to keep your little ones busy.
Not forgetting your four legged friends, Standon also welcomes dogs through its gates and hosts an annual dog show to get involved with. Your pooch won’t need to pay for a ticket and is simply registered at the gate upon arrival. You dog could bound away with the ‘Waggiest Tail’ or ‘Best Trick’ Rosette if he or she impresses.
Not one to close the party early, Standon continues the fun into the night with its micro-venue continuations, including its own nightclub dubbed the ‘Cowshed’. These after-parties include a range of Disco, Funk, Soul and House to appease the late night music lover with quality and variety.
