Black Friday Sweet Treats - Our Money Saving Recipes

After a hectic day of shopping during the Black Friday sale period, fashion doesn’t have to be the only thing you can save money on. Here at Country Attire we have created sweet treat recipes that are low cost, delicious and simple to make. Relax over Black Friday weekend; browse online, enjoy your new purchases and have a creative day in the kitchen. Choose from our delicious strawberry and caramel pancakes, triple chocolate cookies and chocolate muffins which are all low budgeted and a great treat to indulge in during the colder winter months.
Pancakes with caramel sauce and strawberries

Cost per person: 64p 

Serves: 4 people. Preperation & Cooking time: 30 minutes. 


-  2 eggs
- 50g brown sugar
- 180g self-raising flour
- 1/2 mug of milk
- Oil to fry
- 400g fresh strawberries, chopped

Caramel Sauce:
- 50g butter
- 2 tbsp. light brown sugar
- 4 tbsp. double cream
1. Start by making the caramel sauce: add the butter, 2 tbsp. brown sugar and the double cream into a small saucepan.

2. Gently heat and stir, allowing to bubble for 1 minute.

3. Leave the caramel sauce in the saucepan and set to one side until needed.

4. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs together then add the sugar, flour and milk and whisk until the mixture is smooth.

5. Heat the oil into a large frying pan. Add 1 table spoon of the mixture for each pancake- you should be able to fit 4 pancakes into the frying pan.

6. Leave to cook for 2 minutes until the pancakes are lightly browned underneath and then flip the pancakes over to cook on the side for an additional 2 minutes.

7. Repeat this until all the mixture is used up.

8. Serve the pancakes with the strawberries and caramel sauce and enjoy!
Triple Chocolate Cookies

Serves: 24 cookies. Preparation: 15 minutes. Cooking time: 10 minutes.


- 100g soft brown sugar
- 100g golden caster sugar
- 100g butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
- 225g plain flour
- 70g milk chocolate, melted
- 85g white chocolate chips
- 85g milk chocolate chips
1. Heat the oven to 180C and line 1-2 baking trays with baking parchment.

2. In a large bowl, mix the brown sugar, golden caster sugar and soft butter together with a wooden spoon.

3. Then add the egg, vanilla extract, flour and the melted milk chocolate to the bowl and mix together.

4. Whilst stirring, add in the white and plain chocolate chips until the mixture is smooth.

5. Using an ice-cream scoop or round spoon, scoop out balls of cookie dough from the mixing bowl and place them straight on the baking trays.

6. Bake in batches for 8-9 minutes until they are golden and still soft to touch.

7. Carefully transfer the cookies onto a wire rack and leave until cool to touch. Enjoy!
Chocolate Cupcakes

Serves: 10 cupcakes. Preparation: 15 minutes. Cooking time: 20 minutes.


- 300g dark chocolate, broken into chunks
- 200g self-raising flour
- 200g light Muscovado sugar
- 6 tbsp. cocoa
- 150ml sunflower oil, and a little extra for greasing
- 284ml pot of soured cream
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
- Sprinkles for decoration
1. Heat oven to 180C and line a 10-hole muffin tray with paper cases.

2. Break the chocolate up into really small chunks, using a food processor is advised.

3. Take out a large mixing bowl and tip in the flour, sugar, cocoa, oil, 100ml sour cream, the eggs, vanilla extract and 100ml of water.

4. Using electric beaters, whisk everything together until smooth then add in 100g of the chocolate chunks.

5. Divide the mixture between the 10 cases and bake for 20 minutes.

6. Once baked, leave on a wire rack until cool.

7. To make the icing, put the remaining chocolate chunks, soured cream and 3tbsp. of sugar into a small sauce pan.

8. Heat gently and continuously stir until the chocolate is melted.

9. Place in the fridge until it is firm enough to ice the muffins.

10. Spread the icing across all the muffins, finish with the sprinkles and enjoy!
