Classic Treatment for your wax jacket
For all wax coats and jackets

Made to the same original formula as that used in making Barbour fabrics, it's easy to apply (either to to the whole garment, or to the parts which get the most wear, such as elbows, creases and pocket edges), and helps preserve both the fabric and its waterproof qualities.

Directions: Brush all surplus dirt from the garment. If necessary, sponge down with clean cold water. Reproof in a warm room standing container in hot water to soften the dressing. Work dressing well into the garment using a clean cloth or sponge. Special attention should be given to areas which appear to be dry and lighter in colour, the shoulders and neck seams and areas subject to the most abrasion eg. pockets and creases in sleeves.

For a real 'factory' finish blow evenly all over with a hairdryer. Hang garment overnight in a warm place.

Regular re-proofing is essential as it protects the fabric, maintains its waterproof qualities and ensures a long, useful life.

Very easy to use. Give yourself plenty of time, if you want to do the job properly This is NOT a two minutes job as some would lead you to believe, BUT done correctly, will be waterproof. I always give my Barbour coats ( 5) of them, two wax services a year. An (A) CLASS Service, which consists of..Wash with ice cold water and sponge then leave to totally dry for two days ,then a FULL wax treatment. Once again leave to dry for a couple of days to allow the solvents to evaporate, then go all over the jacket with a hairdryer full heat slow speed and use an old cotton wragg to wipe any excess and help blend the wax for a fantastic finish. (B) Service is just a light going over any drying areas, usually shoulders, pockets, elbows every 6 months or so. I have been waxing Barbour coats for 37 years and done this way, i have NEVER had one leak water. At times, they have been rained on constantly for 6 hours or more whilst dry stone walling. Hail stones just bounce of the jacket like an armoured shell. Great jackets, great wax. Just take your time!!!.

With one tin of this I've re-waxed two Barbour dog coats, a large Stone Island coat and a Barbour Bedale jacket. All have had two coats of wax per coat/jacket. There is still a small amount left in the tin, although not enough for another job. I came here to buy another tin as I want one ready for when I need it again. I can't imagine how you would use a whole tin on one coat!

I used the wax dressing as directed with good results. It's easy to apply. I did my jacket in sections, the arms, chest, etc, I worked it into the creases and pocket edges. I sponge down the coat with clean cold water. Put the wax in hot water to soften the wax. I did the coat in the summer whilst the coat was supple. I then gave it a real 'factory' finish by using my wife's hairdryer. I recon there is enough for a large coat. Don
