The Top SS21 Womenswear Fashion Trends

Discover the essential womenswear trends for SS21. From relaxed tailoring pieces to feel-good bright colourways, these are the top women's fashion trends to wear as we look forward to summer.
How we dress and express our personal style can have a great impact on how we feel and help to positively lift our mood. As we start to look forward to the warmer months, it is time to think about updating our wardrobes ready for a summer that promises a return to somewhat normality.
The top womenswear fashion trends of SS21 reflect all of our shared feelings of hope and uplifting optimism. From vibrant feel-good brights and prints to calming pastel colourways, we have assembled our favourite trends that can be incorporated into your existing wardrobe. Covering soft tailoring, fuzzy house slippers, and even statement dresses, we have compiled the key wardrobe essentials for this spring/summer season suitable for any occasion that may soon arise.
Bright and washed-out pastel colours continue to be a key spring/summer colourway thanks to their ability to create soft silhouettes and a soothing look. Displayed in SS21 runway shows by Acne Studios, Paul Smith, Dior, and Jacquemus, pastel colours can deliver a sense of comforting nostalgia to your wardrobe.
Easily incorporate pastel colours into your everyday looks with the Levi’s Crew Neck Sweatshirt available in a scallop shell and peony pink, or with the Levi’s Surplus Jumpsuit in soft surplus sea spray colourway perfect for casual outings. The beige Lauren Ralph Lauren 2 in 1 Anorak Jacket and Boss Formal Stretch Twill Jacket in light pastel blue are ideal for transitional weather and layering.
With working from home becoming the new norm, designers have created relaxed takes on classic tailored garments that are sophisticated and comfortable with oversized silhouettes and lightweight fabrics. Seen across catwalk shows from Chloe, Fendi, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Moda Operandi, slouchy yet tailored pieces are essential for creating a contemporary and modern look for your next Zoom meeting. Easy to mix and match, soft tailored garments can help you feel like you have dressed up properly for the day while remaining comfortable.
Try out this trend with the flowy Lauren Ralph Lauren Belted Sateen Shirt Dress with traditional tailored detailing throughout or the wide leg Lauren Ralph Lauren Zihna Jumpsuit with a self-tie waistbelt for a custom silhouette. The Lauren Ralph Lauren Dalyza Shirt and Filancia Shirt both feature oversized puffed sleeves, sophisticated structured collars and all over stripe patterns sure to upgrade your at-home office outfit. Artfully layer a sweater such as the Lauren Ralph Lauren Meren over wide-leg trousers for an elevated and relaxed tailored look inspired by Raf Simons' debut SS21 collection as co-creative director at Prada.
Denim remains a key category this season, however as seen in Chloe, Victoria Beckham, and Balenciaga's SS21 collections, denim jeans now have a distinctive 70s inspired edge, with high waists cinched in with a belt and loose leg silhouettes for enhanced comfort and effortless style.
Swap out your skinny jeans with a pair of Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans or the Levi’s Ribcage Boot Jeans designed with super high-rise waists, secure button flys, classic five-pocket styling, and a variety of coloured washes. The loose Free People Laurel Canyon Flare Jeans also feature a high rise cut with wide leg openings and distressed detailing.
Whenever rescheduled evening plans can take place, be ready with an attention-demanding statement dress fit for any indoor or outdoor occasion. This season, designers such as Balmain, Loewe, Dior, Valentino and Louis Vuitton went the extra mile with their occasionwear by creating extravagant dresses packed with full skirts, patterns, sequins, embellishments, ruffles and puffed sleeves. Burberry, Prada, Victoria Beckham and Givenchy displayed dresses with skin revealing netting, cut-outs and back openings perfect for the warm summer weather.
Add instant glamour to your spring/summer wardrobe with the luxurious Ted Baker Dominaa Dress with an all-over floral pattern, silky necktie, and full skirt with two side slip pockets. A bohemian mini take on the floral dress, the Free People Flower Fields Mini Dress follows the trend of shorter dress lengths and features playful puffed long sleeves and a ruffled hemline. With exotic animal prints remaining a key trend this season, the Ted Baker Louu Dress is a sparkling addition to your spring summer dress collection with an all-over glitzy sequin zebra pattern and mini cut length.
In SS21 shows, designers either went bold or for a more classic monochromatic colour scheme. Timeless and easy to style, monochrome garments are perfect for showing off statement accessories and creating contemporary and modern looks. As seen from Chanel with crisp layers and Gabriela Hearst with white and black dresses, monochromatic dressing is ideal for work or evening occasions.
Follow this trend with the Ralph Lauren Polka Dot Jersey Surplice Dress or the Barbour Perthshirt Dress, featuring an all-black colourway with contrasting white patterns for a stand-out finish. Create a monochromatic look with individual pieces like the Ralph Lauren Ruffle Trim Stretch Top paired with the flattering high rise Ralph Lauren Bayta Trousers. As for monochrome accessories, the Ralph Lauren Large Logo Debby Drawstring Handbag and the Ted Baker Amerrah Handbag both incorporate black and white block colours seamlessly.
As seen in Balenciaga’s SS21 show, boyfriend shirts styled with denim and slides is a new take on office dressing and casual styling. Oversized and crafted from crisp materials like cotton, boyfriend shirts like the GANT Broadcloth Striped Shirt or the Barbour Tynemouth Shirt are ideal for day-to-day wear and weekend off-duty looks. Try layering boyfriend shirts with a striking knitted vest or a classic cable knitted V-neck sweater like the GANT Stretch Cotton Cable Knit for added warmth.
As seen in Gabriella Hearst, Stella McCartney, Versace and Christopher John Rogers' SS21 collections, vibrant bright colours and mood-boosting prints are a key trend this season. Rainbow stripes and swirly prints were repeatedly displayed on the catwalk to symbolise hope for a brighter future. Follow this trend effortlessly with the striking Lauren Ralph Lauren Print Stretch Jersey Midi Dress or the Paul Smith Gili Shirt, which feature colourful, abstract patterned designs.
Bright pinks were a key colour in this year’s London Fashion Week, seen in Roksanda and Molly Goddard’s collections. The Lauren Ralph Lauren Pleated Georgette Dress is the perfect bright pink addition to your spring summer wardrobe with a midi pleated skirt, lightweight and airy georgette fabric and a sleek point collar. Another vibrant option is the Ted Baker Hariiet Dress featuring a lustrous yellow fabric, self-tie waist belt, wide short sleeves, and a keyhole neck opening.
In combination with your fashion-forward loungewear and sleek working from home looks, a bold accessory can complete any look. This SS21 season, designers created a wide range of accessories from polished hardware jewellery to functional handbags.
Synonymous with the 70’s inspired denim trend, a statement belt that accentuates the waist is essential for pairing with your wide-leg jeans. As for jewellery, Dior and Chloe displayed a range of bohemian inspired designs, eye-catching pendants, longer length chains and layered looks. Recreate this trend with the Lauren Ralph Lauren Multi Row Pendant 16” Necklace and the Double Row Logo Pendant 16” Necklace, crafted from high shine gold-tone hardware with unique chain styles and eye-catching pendants.
Everything from practical totes to repeat logo bags and luxury beach bags were featured throughout SS21 shows such as Celine, Christian Dior, Nanushka, and Altuzarra. Incorporate these trends into your wardrobe with the heritage logo monogram Lauren Ralph Lauren Collins 32 Tote crafted from a vibrant candy red or with the classic textured leather Boss Grained Italian Leather Shopper Bag in a timeless and easy to style black colourway. Perfect for daily shopping trips or holiday getaways, the patent faux leather Ted Baker Aevacon Shopper is an iconic carry all finished with bold script branding to the front.
House slippers remain an increasing popular footwear choice amongst remote workers thanks to their comfort and versatility for both indoor and outdoor wear. As seen in the SS21 collections of Coach, Balenciaga and Roksanda, house slippers can be cosy, yet chic with velvet and shearling uppers in playful patterns or muted neutral tones.
One of our best sellers here at Country Attire, the UGG Fluff Yeah is now available in a dreamy pastel scallop colourway with a signature supportive quilted toe strap and an easy slip-on style. A more vibrant take on the classic slipper, the UGG Oh Yeah Slippers in bold strawberry sorbet feature the same cosy comfort with two toe straps and a fluffy sheepskin lining and insole. Expertly crafted from premium sheepskin, UGG slippers seamlessly combine the comfort of a slipper with the style of a sandal with a durable rubber outsole and elasticated ankle straps.
A proud new addition to Country Attire, Celtic and Co slippers are expertly handmade in Cornwall, England using the highest quality craftsmanship and British farm-sourced sheepskin. Sure to provide optimum comfort in your downtime, the Celtic and Co Bootee Slippers in spice are designed to give your feet a warm and cosy hug with a natural temperature regulating woollen interior and lightweight outsole.
